Beat the Heat in the Steel City
I landed up in Jamshedpur on 7th May to do my Summer training with 6 guys from our College. and this blog is precisely after a month to mark the anniversary so to say . The Steel plant is gigantic, a small town in itself . And one day, call it the effect of the sweltering sapping heat or my whims I decided to get an hair cut .I know it does sound weird if I call getting a hair cut anything but whimsical but then what I had on my mind and wanted on my head were SPIKES. But for this I needed to go to a Hair saloon and strangely enough I couln't find one inspite of looking for them the whole week .But on Sunday morning undetered I went out in the scorching sun and to my relief eventually found a whole arcade of Barber Shops. It looked more like a brothel market ( I haven't visited any nor intend to but then Bollywood teaches you a lot ) everybody was calling out for me. My ijjat was at stake .A bit hesitant , a bit unsure I glanced through all the shops.Though some were alluring enough I had to make a decision of going to THE ONE so that later I lament not . . I asked him if he cud get me some spikes ?he replied Yes and then referred to DCH so as to convince me that he knew the stuff. My joy knew no bounds .tired by the walk in the sun and the hot breeze from the creaking fan which cooled off my sweat , I slumbered. That was it.The battle was lost!
By the time I woke up forget spikes even strands of hair were hard to find on my hitherto lush but now barren HEAD. My yells at the barber were futile. He tried some trouble shooting but it couldn' be helped. The damage had been done. I almost wept thinking of what could have been and instead what I had on my head now ( or rather didn't have) and of course dreading all the mockery that awaited me at the hostel .But then every drkcloud has a Silver Lining .I know my hair will grow again ( I definitely want to believe that ) and someday, someday I WILL HAVE SPIKES .Yeah!
